Our Brothers and Sisters

Sushila Devi and Jai Prakash Gupta: Sushila Devi was our eldest sister. She was simple and affectionate by nature. During thirties of the last century, there was lack of rail and road communications and therefore her visits to the parental home at Bundi were very limited. She was married to Jai Prakash Gupta of Bikaner, who was working in Bikaner State Railway as an auditor. Looking to the very limited facilities available at that time, Jai Prakash was a well informed intellectual of the times. He was also a poet and writer of standing.  They had eight children- six daughters and two sons: Sarla, Kusum,  Ashok, Shashi,  Alok, Manno, Abha and Arti.

Sheelwati and Vidya Dhar Goyal:  Sheelwati was our second sister. She was very simple and affectionate by nature. She visited her parental home at Bundi once or twice a year. She was married to Vidya Dhar Goyal of Delhi, who was working with Bird and Company at Delhi. He was fond of outdoor games and sports. They had two daughters and three sons: Suman, Rohit, Lalit, Anil and Sarita.

Satyawati and Jai Prakash Bansal: Satyawati was our third sister. She was very simple and affectionate by nature. She was a frequent visitor to the parental home at Bundi and subsequently at Meerut and she was always with us, whenever we needed her. She was married to Jai Prakash Bansal of Mirzapur. The family of Jai Prakash Bansal belonged to village  Jisola in Muzaffarnagar District, but, they subsequently moved to Mirzapur for contract business in irrigation department of U.P. They had four children: one daughter and three sons- Usha, Mahendra, Rajendra and Surendra.

Tarawati and Dharm Prakash: Tarawati was our fourth sister. She was extremely active from childhood and was a frequent visitor to her parental home. She was married to Dharm Prakash Gupta of Dehradun.  Dharm Prakash Gupta started his career on a ministrial job in the collectorate of Dehradun and  finally rose to the rank of Treasury officer. They had two sons and a daughter: Shaila, Sunil and Mukt Chetan.

Dr Jai Narain Goel and Dr Shashi Bala Goel:  Dr  Jai Narain Goel was born at Banswara on August  18, 1926. He had his early education at Bundi, Kota and Meerut. He completed his MBBS from King George’s Medical College Lucknow in 1952. Subsequently, he completed DOMS and MS in Opthalmology from King George’s Medical College Lucknow. Thereafter, after working for a short period as a Medical Officer in UP Medical Service, he migrated to Canada in 1958. There he completed  his FRCS and was licensed to work as an ophthalmologist in Canada and USA.  Thereafter, he settled down at Galt in Canada, now known as Cambridge. After a busy and distinguished career as an opthalmologist at Cambridge, he retired at the age of seventy  years and shifted to Texas in USA. He is fond of golf, swimming  and other physical fitness activities.

Dr Jainarain Goel was married to Dr Shashi Goel in 1954. Dr Shashi Bala Goel was born at Meerut in 1933. She had her early education at Meerut. Thereafter she competed her MBBS from Lady Harding Medical College, Delhi in 1954. Subsequently, she completed her  Diploma in Anaesthesia after   her marriage,  from Bombay.  Thereafter, after working for a short period in UP Medical Service,  she migrated to Canada in 1958. She completed her FRCS in Canada and was licensed to work in Canada and USA as an anaesthetist. Thereafter,  she  worked in intensive care and  anaesthesia at Galt, now known as Cambridge. After a distinguished career in Canada she moved to Texas.

Dr Jai Narin Goel  and Dr Shashi  Goel have two sons and a daughter. The elder son is Sharad Goel. He is working as a chartered accountant at Toronto in Canada. He was married to Anne and has three daughters. Tara, Sharon and Rachel. Tara and Sharon are twins. Subsequently, after divorce from Anne, Sharad was married to Saipan.  Shalini is the only daughter of Dr Jai Narain and Dr Shashi Goel. She is settled in  Toronto and is working as an accountant. Dr Suresh Goel is their younger son, who is working as a prosthodentist at Rochester in USA.   Dr Suresh Goel is married to Dr Cheryl who is also a dentist.  They have five children, one daughter and four sons. The daughter is Morgan and sons are Daniel, Anne, Evon and Taylor.

Presently, Dr Jai Narain Goel and Dr Shashi Goel  are leading a physically active and satisfying personal  life at Rochester with their son Dr Suresh Goel and are enjoying the company of their fast growing bunch of grand children.

Uma Rani and Mohan Lal: Uma Rani was our youngest sister. She was married to Mohan Lal of Jansath in 1949. Mohan Lal was working in the irrigation department of UP at that time.  Subsequently, he moved to Gorakhpur and established  Maharana Pratap Polytechnic at Gorakhpur and worked there as Principal. They have five children- four sons and one daughter.  Ahilya, Krishan Gopal, Krishan Govind, Arvind and Arjun.

 

Dr Krishan Narain Goel and Shashi Goel: Krishan Narain Goel was born at Banswara in 1930.  He was a few months old, when our father moved to Bundi. He had his early education at Bundi, Kota, Meerut and Bareilly. Subsequently, he completed his B.Sc from Pilani and M.Sc in organic chemistry from Jodhpur, followed by a degree in Chemical Engineering from HBTI Kanpur in 1956. Thereafter, he worked for sometime in a chemical establishment at Kanpur. During this period he had an opportunity to go to Germany for the study of some of the chemical processes. After his short stint at Kanpur, he joined Gwalior Rayons at Nagda as chief chemist. Subsequently, he went to Sweden and completed his Ph.D. and ultimately migrated to Canada in the year 1966 where he had a distinguished career with Consolidated Bathrus and Domtar.   He has finally  settled down at Toronto and is leading an active and satisfying personal life.

Dr Krishan Narain Goel  was married to Shashi in the year 1954. Shashi had  her education at Varanasi, where she completed her B.A. from Banaras Hindu University. She dedicated most of her life for bringing up her children. She was very soft spoken and affable and tried to help all those with whom she came into contact.  They have two children: one daughter Dr Meeta Goel and one son Dr Vivek Goel. Dr Meeta Goel  was married to Dr Anupam. They had a son Kyle  and a daughter Maya. Dr Vivek Goel was married to Dr Susan and they have a son Alex and daughter Sarena.

Hari Narain Goel and Rajrani Goel: Hari Narain is our youngest brother. He was born at Bundi in Rajasthan in 1931. He had his early eduction at Bundi, Kota, Meerut,  Bareilly and Pilani. Thereafter, he completed B.Sc from Lucknow University followed by   a diploma course in Civil Engineering from Civil Engineering School Lucknow and worked in CSIR (Council of Scientific and Industrial Research) at Gauhati and had teaching assignments at Jodhpur and Nainital before leaving for Canada in 1969. He completed B.A.Sc (Engg) from the University of Waterloo in Canada and was licenced to work as  as  Professional Engineer and subsequently as Consulting Engineer in Canada. Thereafter, he set up his own materials testing company and settled down at Toronto.

Hari was married to Raj Rani daughter of Raj Kishore Gupta in 1958. Raj Rani was born and brought up at Muzaffarnagar, where she had her early education.  She dedicated her life in bringing up children and for the welfare of the family. Hari  and Raj Rani  have three children: Sanjoy, Anita and Sandeep. Sanjoy was married to Sunita and they have five children, two sons and three daughters- Shan, Sameer, Shreya, Sabrena and Sejal. They are settled in Toronto with their children. Sanjoy looks after his materials testing company and Sunita has her food catering business.   Anita is  also settled at Toronto. Sandeep is looking after his materials testing business and is settled at Toronto.
